After Instagram’s live video function, the social media giant is already rolling out its latest update. Get to know Instagram’s newest feature: the multi-photo slideshow tool.
Surprise! Swipe left on the post above to see more. Starting today, you can share up to 10 photos and videos in one post on Instagram. With this update, you no longer have to choose the single best photo or video from an experience you want to remember. When uploading to your feed, you’ll see a new icon to select multiple photos and videos. It’s easy to control exactly how your post will look. You can tap and hold to change the order, apply a filter to everything at once or edit one by one. These posts have a single caption and are square-only for now. On a profile grid, you’ll notice the first photo or video of a post has a little icon, which means there’s more to see. And in feed, you’ll see blue dots at the bottom of these posts to let you know you can swipe to see more. You can like and comment on them just like a regular post. This update is available as part of Instagram version 10.9 for iOS in the Apple App Store and for Android on Google Play. To learn more, check out help.instagram.com.
Proving it’s one step ahead of the tech game, our favourite photo-sharing platform has given us a gift that we never thought we needed. As of today, users can now create a post that features up to 10 photos and/or videos. Basically, they’ll be Instagram stories that’ll stay on your home feed and won’t disappear in 24 hours! Just think, we can forever say buh-bye to the dilemma of sharing only one photo or deal with bombarding our followers with endless photos from that one vacation.
Sure, the slideshow tool may have been available for advertisers for quite some time, but it’s just become available to the public.
“This product was inspired by members of our community, who have told us that there are times they want to share more than just one moment from a memorable experience in their feed,” says Instagram product manager Yichen Wang to Refinery 29. “The ability to upload multiple photos and videos within one post not only adds depth to those moments, but it also complements other products within the app, such as stories, in a way that makes it easier than ever to share your highlights and everything in between on Instagram.”
But of course with every new update, there will always be the haters.
