For Fifth Harmony fans, the most recent episode of Dancing with the Stars was an emotional one.
As you all know, our former cover star, Normani Kordei, is currently slaying the 24th season of the hit dance reality show and week four was no different for the singer. Partnered up with Valentin Chmerkovskiy, the two danced the Rumba to the classic R&B song “Impossible.” Right off the bat, the performance started a little differently with Kordei singing the first verse. But after she took her first step, her bandmates, Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke and Dinah Jane, appeared in matching blush pink gowns singing the accompanying song live.
Tonight was all that I imagined. I got the chance to communicate with fifteen year old me. During this time I faced a constant battle trying to believe that what was within me, would be enough. I can truly say that through each of these beautiful women that I have had the pleasure to experience life with, I have found my place. Through the struggle, insecurities, disappointment, self doubt, triumphs, blessings and evolution, 2012 is my proudest moment. I'm forever grateful to God for this life and the people that I have come across. I love these girls more than I'll ever be able to put into words. They are mine and I am theirs. I dedicate every day since we were formed, and tonight, to you ♥️♥️♥️ You're my heart and safe haven. Forever and always, Normani #DWTS #teamvalmani
For week four’s theme, the remaining DWTS contestants had to look back at the turning points of their career (a.k.a their “Most Memorable Year”). As for Kordei, she couldn’t have picked a more perfect song to showcase it. In case you were wondering why the song sounded so familiar, you’re not crazy. True Harmonizers would remember that the girl group performed Shontelle’s “Impossible” for Simon Cowell and Marc Anthony back in 2012 on X-Factor. The song was especially special because it was the first time the girls sang together.
“In 2012, my parents convinced me to audition of X-Factor,” says Kordei in the intro segment. “I met four beautiful girls. That’s the moment that my life changed forever.”
While the pair didn’t receive the highest marks of the night (Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater got the honours), Normani received nothing but praise from the judges, including being called a “powerhouse” by Julianne Hough and a “Rumba Dominatrix” by Bruno Tonioli.
