The Perfect Necklace to Wear With Your Off-the-Shoulder Top

Trends

Though we generally advise against wearing multiple trends at the same time, there are always exceptions. Such is the case for the subjects of today’s post: chokers and the off-the-shoulder neckline. We’ve seen iterations of chokers across the gamut over the last several months, from ’90s-inspired velvet ribbons to leather tie versions. And don’t even get us started on the massive popularity that the off-the-shoulder top has garnered—it’s on practically every woman this summer. So when we began to see the two married into one look on our favorite bloggers, we knew it was so not a coincidence.

Why does it work? A cold shoulder can be challenging to accessorize (so much bare skin!), but a choker achieves a fashion-forward look that doesn’t feel fussy or overbearing. To help illustrate our point, we gathered seven stylish blogger outfits and also threw in a few shopping combinations to make it easy and effortless for you.

This tiered ruffle dress is a bold statement on its own, but Natasha Ndlovu of Bisous Natasha proved the power of a leather wrap choker.
How divine is Pandora Sykes velvet-and-gold combination?
Take a tip from Margaret Zhang of Shine by Three and match your choker to your slacks to tie your look together.
Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific illustrated how to get the choker effect using a simple bandana wrapped thinly around the neck. It complemented her crisp white top and bold green skirt.
Update a simple striped top with a suede tie choker like Jules Sarinana of Sincerely Jules.
If your outfit is busy with various prints and colors, opt for a simple ribbon choker to keep it from reading overwhelming.
Team a white lace choker with a boho dress for a flirty, feminine look. Keep the rest of the outfit simple so it doesn’t err costumey.
